Farm Dreams...

Mr. Wonderful and I talk often of our dreams to own a house with some land, maybe a couple horses and  defiantly chickens.  Let's take a closer look at how I see it compared to him.

Horses:
My thought would be Tennessee Walking Horse......weekends riding the trails together. How peaceful would that me and I know how much Mr. Wonderful loves to ride.
However, when Mr. Wonderful thinks of horses this is what he sees........a mud flinging Chevy! Really,  no way that could ever be peaceful!!?!
Chickens:
I see them as egg layers.......well, maybe a little more then that, cute fluffy feathers like a Silkie or a beautiful red one like a Rhode Island Red. There would be Huey, Dewey and Louie and Sara.....you get the picture.

This is Mr. Wonderful's idea of  raising chickens.  I say no way they are for EGGS only!! Not only that I could not bring myself to eat Huey, Dewey, Louie or Sara.

Sheep:
I have always admired sheep grazing in fields. Well, this weekend we went to the fair and I came face to face with this little beauty.  I so wanted to take "ewe" home with me!!

Conversation with Mr. Wonderful:
Me: Honey, when we get our house can I have a few sheep.
Mr. Wonderful: WHAT!?!? (laughing)
Me: SHEEP, you know the ones with the really long curly hair like we saw at the fair.
Mr. Wonderful: Really, this farm is getting a little crowded!
Me: But Honey, I could spin my own wool and make my own organic dyes.
Mr. Wonderful Laughs and says........

......we can have lamb GYROS!!
Me: NO!!! You can not eat Tilly and, oh you just cannot!!!
Mr. Wonderful: LAUGHING

Though we both see things a little different when it comes to what will be going on at the farm we both know more then anything we want to be out of the apartment life and in our own home with a garden, and chickens.  We are one more day closer to our GREEN ACRES!

Do you have farm dreams, do share them with us!?

  1. When you get the farm you can have your horses and he can have his Chevy Truck to pull the trailer to haul the horses. LOL. As for chickens, when Henny Penny hatches a dozen eggs and over half of them are Roosters, there is your Sunday roasted chicken dinner ....... That's the way farm life is ... there is a reason for everything.

    1. I agree with you about the Chevy and horses. LOL My parents had chickens when I was young....they did not have a rooster and when the hens stopped laying my dad gave them to another farmer because we refused to eat them. LOL!!

  3. You have a much more romantic view of farm life than your Mr.! Hope that dream comes true for you in the near future.

  4. What is it with men anyway??! I would love to have chickens too, but couldn't kill them. I'm afraid they'd all become pets. And the sheep? Just visit my blog sometime and type 'sheep' in the search bar. LOVE sheep and have a ton of pics of sheep from England, Yorkshire in particular. Love those black faces and the long hair - just like the one in your photo!

Thanks for following Cranberry morning. I'm following back!♥
